We’ve cleared the space out, returning it to the open, empty state that the space was in when we first moved to this location. AT⇒MT conversion After the conversion the interior was reassembled and shifter installed. The shifter position was adjusted to a comfortable spot without replacing the panel. A color matched hand sewn shift boot was selected for installation, and an upgraded steering wheel. Small details on the interior were reworked carefully to keep a natural looking finish. We constructed a reinforced shortened frame to increase rigidity. To prevent frame distortion, a specialized frame jig is affixed and welding is performed after measurements are made each time. The factory automatic transmission was removed in favor of a W55 which we had on hand from a previous project. This was a front lip that we had on hand from our own GX71 from about 5 years ago that luckily fit up to this car without any major modification to it. Here’s a bit of the progress on the custom work of the 4-door Chaser we previously introduced. The exhaust is a straight pipe raised up snug to the body to allow clearance. The rear fenders have been delicately rolled, taking quite a bit of skill so as not to distort the beautiful factory fender line in any way.
